The Country Club Hills Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Melvin Walker (age 59). At approximately 12:07am, police officers responded to Bonafide Service Station (7501 West Florissant Avenue) for a report of a shooting. There they located the service station owner, Melvin Walker, inside the office. He had been shot and was pronounced dead on scene.

As a result of this investigation, Frank Madina (age 23) and John Edgar (age 21) were each charged with Murder 1st Degree and Robbery. Their bond was set at $100,000 each.
