The St Charles Sheriff’s Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Russell Knepler (age 37). At approximately 10:42pm, deputies responded to a residence on Elm Point Road near St. Charles for a report of a man shot. There they located Russell Knepler inside the residence. He had been shot through his living room window and was pronounced dead on scene.
