The Berkeley Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of James Bond III (age 14). At 6:57pm, police officers responded to a residence in the 6800 block of Larry Lane for a report of a person shot. There they located James Bond III lying in the front yard. He had been shot and was pronounced dead on scene.
As a result of this investigation, Taivion Kirk (age 18) and La’Marrion Mathews (age 18) were each charged with Murder 2nd Degree, Unlawful Use of Weapon, Assault 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action. Their bond was set at $250,000 each.
