The Granite City Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Ahmaad Nunley. At approximately 2:00am, officers responded to Illinois Route 3 for a report of shots fired. There officers located two people who had been shot. Both were taken to a local hospital. Ahmaad Nunley (age 30) died from his injuries. The other individual survived.
As a result of this investigation, the following individuals were charged in this case:
Mantia Johnson Jr (age 34) - 1st Degree Murder, Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Weapons by a Felon - Bond $1,000,000
Clyde Leonard (age 37) - 1st Degree Murder, Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery with a Firearm - Bond $2,000,000
Larry Lovett (age 40) - 1st Degree Murder and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm - Bond $5,000,000
