The Edwardsville Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the deaths of Michael and Dr. Lois Ladd. At approximately 10:33am, officers responded to a residence in the 800 block of North Kansas St after an employee had gone to the residence to check on the victims. When officers arrived, they discovered Michael Ladd (age 79) and Dr. Lois Ladd (age 68) deceased inside their residence.
As a result of this investigation, Zachary Capers (age 23) was charged with four counts of 1st Degree Murder in their deaths.
