The assistance of the Major Case Squad was requested in investigating the murder of Alexis Winston. At around 4:00am, the East St. Louis Police Department responded to a possible home invasion in progress in the 1200 block of Market Street. When officers arrived on scene, they located Alexis Winston (age 23) deceased inside her apartment. She had been shot multiple times.  A toddler-aged child was also inside the residence unharmed.
