The Belleville Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Deveon Hunt. On 10-29-2017 at approximately 10:12pm, police received a 911 call regarding multiple shots fired in the area of the 7600 block of South 76th Street, Belleville. When police arrived on scene, they found Deveon Hunt (age 18) on the ground with a gunshot wound. Deveon was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators learned Deveon and Quantez Jones (age 16) were both shooting at a house. While they were shooting at the house, Quantez accidentally shot Deveon.

Quantez was charged as an adult with the charges of 1st Degree Murder and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm. His bond was set at $1,000,000.
