The Illinois State Police and East St. Louis Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of George Tolliver Jr. At approximately 10:09pm, East St. Louis police officers responded to the 800 block of North 86th street for a report of multiple shots fired. There they located George Tolliver Jr (age 65) deceased in the front seat of his SUV. He had been shot multiple times.
As a result of this investigation, Ronnie Gully Jr. (age 21) was charged with 1st Degree Murder and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm. His bond was set at $1,000,000.
