The Ferguson Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Byron Poindexter. At approximately 7:09am, a police officer was on routine patrol in January-Wabash Park in the 500 block of North Florissant Road. The officer checked on a truck parked inside the park. Byron Poindexter (age 60) was located deceased in the pickup truck. Byron had been shot in the head.
As a result of this investigation, Deborah Lewis (age 55) and James Miller (age 52) were each charged with Murder 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action. They were arrested on no-bond warrants.
