The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Michael Maybearry. At approximately 5:20am, firefighters responded to an area of New Highway 21 and Old Highway 21, about three miles north of Highway M, where they found Maybearry in a red Buick Skylark that had crashed into some trees. After realizing Maybearry had been shot, they called the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies found Michael Maybearry (age 27) with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital where he died.
As a result of this investigation, Ryan Harris (age 21) was charged with Murder 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action in Michael’s death.
