The Maplewood Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Brandy Scales. At approximately 9:17am, the police received a 911 call indicating a woman was screaming for help. Police officers responded to the 7200 block of Anna Avenue in response to the 911 call. There they located Brandy Scales (age 21) inside her residence. She had been stabbed multiple times. She was transported to the hospital where she died.
As a result of this investigation, Brandy’s ex-boyfriend, Curtis Washington (age 25), was charged with Murder 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action. He was arrested on a no-bond warrant.
