The Bellefontaine Neighbors Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Mary Hoss. At approximately 12:49pm, officers responded to the Duggan Construction Company (1145 Belgrove Drive) for a report of a shooting. There officers located employee Mary Hoss (age 27) in the front office where she had been shot. She was transported to the hospital where she died.
During this investigation, Mary’s ex-boyfriend, David Valleroy (age 43), was developed as a suspect in Mary’s death. When investigators went to David’s house, they found him dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The gun found next to his body was determined to be the same gun used to kill Mary.
