The East St. Louis Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the deaths of Timothy Chatman and Charles Garner. At approximately 1:58am, police officers responded to the 2600 block of Ridge Avenue for a report of shots fired. When police arrived, they located Timothy Chatman (age 26) and Charles Garner (age 27) on or near the roadway.
As a result of this investigation, the following charges were issued in this case:
Cortez Boose (age 20) - 1st Degree Murder - Bond $750,000
Jason Welch (age 20) - 1st Degree Murder - Bond $500,000
