The Madison Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Leonard Wright. At approximately 10:53pm, police officers responded to the 1500 block of 2nd Street for a report of a vehicle accident involving an injury. When police arrived, they located the vehicle which had struck a tree. Inside the vehicle, they located Leonard Wright (age 40) who had been shot. He was transported to the hospital where he died.

As a result of this investigation, Kenneth Deal (age 27) was charged with 1st Degree Murder in Leonard’s death.
