The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the deaths of Dayle Ebel and Walter Harris. At approximately 4:49pm, deputies responded to an apartment in the 100 block of Adeline in Belleville for a report of a shooting. When deputies arrived, they located Dayle Ebel (age 22) and Walter Harris (age 31) inside the residence. They had both been shot and were pronounced dead on scene.
As a result of this investigation, Von Jones (age 27) was charged with two counts of 1st Degree Murder. His bond was set at $2,000,000.
