The Pine Lawn Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Eichel Johnson Jr (age 14). At approximately 10:30pm, police officers responded to the 3800 block of Beachwood Avenue for a report of a shooting. There they located Eichel Johnson Jr lying in an alley. He had been shot and was transported to the hospital where he died.

As a result of this investigation, Ollie Smith (age 19) was charged with Involuntary Manslaughter/Recklessly. His bond was set at $30,000.
