The Wellston Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Maryetta McKay (age 26). At approximately 11:14am, police officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Werley Avenue for a report of a shooting. There they located Maryetta McKay inside the residence. She had been shot and was pronounced dead on scene.

As a result of this investigation, Alex Mason (age 40) was charged with Murder 1st Degree. He was arrested on a no-bond warrant.
