The Fairview Heights Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Richard Stephenson (age 46). At approximately 8:23pm, police officers responded to a residence on Bountiful Drive for a report of a shooting. There they located Richard Stephenson on the floor of his garage suffering from a gunshot wound.

16 months later, Lloyd Perkins (age 19 at the time of the homicide) was charged with 1st Degree Murder in Richard’s death.
