The St. Charles Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Mary Fleming (age 19). At approximately 11:00am, police officers responded to a residence in the 2900 block of Mayer Drive for a report of sick case where a person was lying unconscious on the porch. There they located Mary Fleming on her neighbor’s doorstep. She had been stabbed several times and her throat had been cut. She was transported to the hospital where she died. It was determined she had interrupted a burglary.
As a result of this investigation, Anthony LaRette Jr (age 28) was charged with Capital Murder. His bond was set at $500,000.
