The Sycamore Hills Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Dennis Geisler (age 22). At approximately 11:32pm, police officers responded to a residence in the 8800 block of Graceland Avenue for a report of shots fired in the area. There they located Dennis Geisler lying in the street. He had been shot and was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

As a result of this investigation, Russell Smith (age 25) was charged with Murder 2nd Degree. His bond was set at $50,000.
