The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Jefferson County Deputy Sheriff Terry O’Connell (age 32). At approximately 10:55am, Deputy O’Connell conducted a routine traffic stop on Highway 30 east of Township Lane (near Dittmer, MO). The driver of the car, Jackie Lindsey, suddenly drew a handgun and fatally shot Deputy O'Connell who was pronounced dead on scene.
As a result of this investigation, Jackie Lindsey (age 30) was charged with Capital Murder. He was arrested on a no-bond warrant.
