The Alton Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Helen Foster (age 75). At approximately 11:14am, police officers responded to a residence in the 2300 block of Salu Street for a well-being check after the window air conditioner was found missing by a neighbor and the interior lights had been left on all night. Officers located Helen Foster inside the residence. She had been killed by blunt force trauma to the head and was pronounced dead on scene.

As a result of this investigation, Allen Weeden III (age 17 - charged as an adult) was charged with Helen’s murder. His bond was set at $100,000.
