Victim: Marilyn Joyce Oliver
Suspect: William Chapman Oliver
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Marilyn Oliver (age 21). At approximately 5:31pm, deputies responded to an old, abandoned farmhouse on Antioch Road (near Leslie, MO). There they located the partially decomposed body of Marilyn Oliver on the porch. She had been missing for 10 days. She had been shot and killed.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department initially began the investigation into Marilyn’s murder on their own. Several months later, in 1972, they requested the Major Case Squad assist them in the investigation. The Major Case Squad became involved at that time.
As a result of this investigation, Marilyn’s estranged husband, William Oliver (age 25) was charged with Murder 2nd Degree in Marilyn’s death.
