The Brentwood Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Dr. Sergei Zacharev. On 05-15-2021 at approximately 11:45pm, police officers responded to the Drury Inn (8700 Eager Road) for a report of shots fired. There officers located Dr. Sergei Zacharev (age 58). He had been shot and was pronounced dead on scene.
During the course of the investigation, it was discovered Dr. Zacharev’s death was linked to the death of Barbara Goodkin (age 70). At approximately 10:51pm, Barbara Goodkin and her husband were driving on the 8200 block of Delmar when they were both shot. Mrs. Goodkin died the following day from her injuries.
Once it was learned the two homicides of Dr. Zacharev and Mrs. Goodkin were connected, the Major Case Squad and the University City Police Department began conducting a joint investigation.
Investigators identified Tyler Terry (age 26) and Adrienne Simpson (age 34) as suspects in both homicides. They were both believed to also be involved in multiple homicides in South Carolina as well as a homicide in Tennessee. After an extensive search, they were both arrested in South Carolina.
Tyler Terry and Adrienne Simpson were charged with the following charges in Missouri:
Murder 1st Degree (2 charges each)
Robbery 1st Degree (1 charge each)
Assault 1st Degree (2 charges each)
Unlawful Use of Weapon (2 charges each)
Armed Criminal Action (7 charges each)
They were each issued no-bond warrants for their arrest.
They each face additional criminal charges in South Carolina and Tennessee.
