The Madison, IL Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in the investigation of the death of Nicholas Roberts. On 4/9/2017 at around 5:15am, the Madison PD received a report of a man down off the side of the road near Big Bend Road in Madison. Nicholas Roberts (age 27) was located on Big Bend Road near Illinois Route 203. Nicholas was transported to the hospital where he died on 4/12/2017 from blunt head trauma.

As a result of the investigation, Terrance Smith (age 24) was charged with Reckless Homicide/Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, and Failure to Report an Accident/Death. His bond was set at $200,000.
