The Berkeley Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Lori OR LAURIE Busch. At approximately 6:48am, police officers responded to the 8500 block of Kathlyn Drive for a report of a house fire. When police arrived, they found the house completely engulfed with smoke. Firefighters forced their way into the house where they located Juanita Fobian (age 55) and her daughter, Lori Busch (age 33), inside the residence. Both occupants were dead on scene.
After a thorough investigation, it was determined Juanita shot and killed Lori and the family dog. Juanita then set the house on fire before shooting and killing herself.
