The Alton Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of James Hubbard Jr. At around 2:00am, police officers received a 911 call of a person who had been shot in the 700 block of Oakwood Estates. When officers arrived on scene, they located James Hubbard Jr (age 41) in a parking lot at the Oakwood Estates public housing complex. He had been shot.
As a result of this investigation, Aryion Sanders (age 17) was charged with two counts of 1st Degree Murder. His bond was set at $500,000.
